CPAP or Continuous Positive Airway Pressure helps people with a chronic snoring problem find relive without surgical intervention.

Nasal CPAP delivers air into your airway through a specially designed nasal mask or pillows.

This is not a device that breaths for you, the flow of air creates enough pressure when you inhale to keep your airway open.

If you have problems with snoring that disturbs other family members, find that you have a problem with being sleepy during the day, wake up often at night, or episodes of obstructed breathing during the night.

Before deciding if CPAP is right for you it would be a good idea to talk with your doctor.

There are many factors that will need to be considered before your doctor decides that CPAP is right for you. Some factors that will need to be considered include, medical history, alcohol and tobacco use, and cardiovascular disease.

You will need to have a complete physical, including an ears, nose and throat exam. If you find that you are particularly claustrophobic this treatment may not be right for you.

Before receiving the nasal mask, you would need to have the proper CPAP pressure set during a "sleep study." This will complete the evaluation necessary for prescribing the appropriate treatment for your needs.

If after you talk to your doctor he decides that CPAP is the right treatment for you, you would be required to wear a mask every night to assist with opening your airways.

With few exceptions CPAP has been found to be nearly 100 percent effective, although it does not cure the problem.

With today's advances in medicine there is not longer a need to live with this undesirable condition any longer.

CPAP is the one of the least evasive and safest treatment.
